In loving memory of our most verdant Erin.
Why Verdant?
In 2014, my best friend Erin (she/they) commenced their therapy journey. Around that time, I was training in DBT at UW with Dr. Marsha Linehan, and I suggested that Erin try Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Later, after Erin completed DBT, Erin shared with me that “DBT saved my life”. Erin told me they wished everyone could access this treatment. When Erin was diagnosed with cancer in 2022, Erin shared they wanted to teach every person living with cancer the DBT skills, because the skills helped them so much through their treatment.
In 2023, Erin passed away due to cancer. Erin's dedication to their mental health lives on both through my work and through every life that is impacted by DBT. Erin's design and art company was known as “Verdant Thought Space” and they believed that when provided with the right soil, anyone could grow to be their most verdant self. We chose to name our clinic both in honor of Erin, and to carry forth Erin's legacy and wish that more people receive DBT.
